I am planning to open a new Other Recycling online business in . Chico California. What are the requirements for Recycling legal registration?
I am a mechanic collecting scrap auto parts and scrap metals recycling and selling it to other companies. I work out of my garage and sell to any one in California who is interested in buying. I am located in Chico ca, butte county

As of 8/1/2023 12:00 AM in Chico, Recycling companies need to be recorded within the jurisdiction in which they operate because all business or activity income from profit is taxable and consequently the business must be registered. In addition if the fictitious name is "Havens & Co. Recycling," that name is a trade name and must be registered with a DBA (about $39 plus state fees), LLC, or Corporation.Note: All businesses, including online and home businesses, must file a DBA Fictitious Business Name

You can also obtain a federal tax ID as a sole proprietor and use it as a business tax ID, however note that you still need to get the licenses and tax IDs as described above. Finally, even sole owner/proprietors working from home or just online can form an LLC or incorporate, in which case, they will not need to file a DBA.
